Here are factors that boosted iGaming.

The post How has the Global iGaming Sector Fared in 2022? appeared first on Australian Times News.

]]>
It is actually expected to hit a record-breaking growth of around $81.08 billion by the end of 2022, and we expect it to grow even further in the future. So, it is safe to say that the iGaming industry has fared very well in 2022, with the potential to expand even more in the future. Here we will take a look at the main factors that boosted the success of the iGaming sector.

The Success of New Casino Games

Online casino games have achieved better success because technology has also improved. There are 3D graphics, cutting-edge visuals, new innovative features, and better casino games that further attract a new audience of online casino players.

Live casino games are quite popular in online casinos, and they have only gotten better in the last couple of years. Also, there are new developers in the market besides Evolution Gaming, where you can try your luck with many new innovative live dealer games.

For example, today, you can try your luck with live casino games that were strictly associated with table and card games, but nowadays, you can actually try your luck with game shows and live-action slot games streamed in real-time to your device.

Cryptocurrencies

Due to the great popularity of cryptocurrencies, many businesses decided to accept crypto payments, as well as online casinos. Casino sites also support this trend and accept crypto payments. This is one of the latest changes in the iGaming market, which has happened in the last couple of years after Bitcoin’s bull cycle; not only casino sites but also other iGaming platforms, such as betting sites and lotto sites, started to accept crypto transactions.

The gambling platforms support major crypto payments for multiple reasons. First, cryptocurrencies are based on blockchain, decentralist technology, and the transaction fees for cross-border payments are quite low because there isn’t a centralized financial authority that approves the transactions. They also offer enhanced security and protect the identity of the crypto owners.

Accessible Mobile Devices

Another factor that continues to impact the rise of only casinos is the accessibility of mobile devices. This is a major factor in the success of the entire gaming sector because there are approximately 8 billion smartphones on a global scale and that number cannot be compared with any other device, including personal computers.

It became more accessible therefore to access any online gambling site through your smartphone’s browser, for this reason, iGaming platforms are constantly increasing the number of games or gambling options which are accessible on mobile casino sites.

In conclusion, one of the main reasons for the constant growth of the iGaming sector where the implementation of different technological innovations, which created more opportunities for different audiences of online casino online users to try their luck with their favourite games of chance. This would not have been possible without the technological advancements and the willingness of the iGaming sector to continue to improve its offerings online.

7 signs you need professional help for drug addiction https://www.australiantimes.co.uk/health-wellness/7-signs-you-need-professional-help-for-drug-addiction/ Wed, 10 Nov 2021 09:17:53 +0000 https://www.australiantimes.co.uk/?p=2452461 (Partner Content) Going to rehab is a difficult decision. Ask Amy Whitehouse; she said, "No, no, no." There are social and financial implications, the fear of what others think of you, and addiction stigma.

The post 7 signs you need professional help for drug addiction appeared first on Australian Times News.

]]>
Asking for professional help to treat addiction is not a sign of weakness; it shows great courage that you are willing to make a positive change in your life.

Going to rehab early rather than later can prevent drug dependency from becoming an addiction, now referred to as substance use disorder. There is no straightforward cure but the condition can be successfully treated with an integrated addiction treatment programme.

There are telltale signs that misuse or abuse of drugs leads to or has developed into an addiction. If you answer ‘yes’ to the few listed below, you need to consider seeking professional help at White River Recovery drug rehab centre sooner rather than later.

Satisfying cravings for drugs is consuming your life

Addiction is defined as a “chronic, relapsing condition characterised by compulsive substance seeking and continued use despite harmful consequences and long-lasting changes in the brain.” You may have substance use disorder if your drug cravings are stronger than the risk of losing your job, broken relationships, getting into trouble with the law, financial difficulties and poor health. You may also have an addiction if you hide substances from loved ones, manipulate situations to get them and avoid family and friends to keep your habit a secret.

Do you find you need to take larger doses more often to get the same effect?

Tolerance occurs when you no longer respond to a drug the same way you did at first, so you take larger doses to get the same high you did at the start. Your brain adapts to dopamine surges from repeated drug use by reducing the numbers or shutting down receptors, counteracting the drug’s effect on your reward system. Drug tolerance leads to dependency, and addiction follows when changes to brain chemistry and function are permanent.

You experience withdrawal symptoms when you stop using drugs

You have developed drug dependency if you experience withdrawal symptoms when you reduce or stop using harmful substances. Your brain copes with repeated drug use by changing brain chemistry, reducing or shutting down dopamine receptors. Your body is thrown off balance if you reduce the amount or abruptly stop taking drugs, resulting in symptoms that can be mild, severe or life-threatening. Drug dependency doesn’t necessarily mean you have an addiction, but you are at risk.

You are struggling with your mental health

Substance dependency can lead to devastating mental health disorders. Repeated drug use causes permanent changes to your brain chemistry and function, leading to substance use disorder, a mental illness and complex brain disease. You’re also at significant risk of developing co-occurring mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, social phobia, aggression, suicidal thoughts, hallucinations and paranoia. Drug misuse or abuse can also trigger symptoms of schizophrenia.

Drugs are affecting your physical health

Drug toxicity affects your whole body and takes a heavy toll on your physical health, causing permanent damage to your heart, liver, lungs, brain, pancreas and central nervous system. Mild symptoms are teeth cavities, gum disease, abscesses, acne, baldness, insomnia and sexual dysfunction. Severe health problems include heart and lung disease, infectious diseases, seizures, brain damage, cancer, stillbirth, psychosis, suicidal thoughts and overdose.

You have tried a few times to quit but have been unsuccessful

Addiction is referred to as relapsing brain disease because toxic substances alter how your brain works and functions, leading to a compulsion to constantly seek out drugs. Studies show the relapse rate for alcohol and drug addiction is 40 to 60 percent (higher for heroin), but this depends on the substance used, stage of the disease, co-occurring disorders and type of treatment received.

The good news is addiction is a treatable disease, and the remission rate ranges from 60 to 80 percent. You can expect a good outcome if you seek help sooner rather than later at a professional rehabilitation centre that offers an integrated addiction treatment programme.

You feel lonely, sad or broken

Addiction is a lonely place to find yourself. As the problem worsens, you lose interest in family, friends and activities that used to bring you joy; you’ll increasingly isolate yourself and may undergo a dramatic personality change. Drug dependence affects your physical and mental health, leading to chronic illnesses, anxiety, depression, guilt, shame, paranoia, hallucinations, hopelessness, and despair. It can take you down a dark path to addiction, suicidal thoughts or attempts, overdose and, at its worse, death.

Get professional help before it’s too late

Professional treatment at an inpatient rehabilitation centre can save your life. The longer you ignore the problem, the more damage you will do to your whole body. You can rely on an integrated addiction treatment programme overseen by a multi-disciplinary team to restore your mind, body and soul. Professional addiction care incorporates medical detox, medicine supervision, psychotherapy, holistic therapies, regular exercise and healthy, balanced meals.

Earlier this week, Cowan, 35, asked the club to consider an early release from his contract to explore a playing opportunity in Japan.

After careful consideration – and in view of Blair’s status and his level of service to London Irish over the years – the club, reluctantly, agreed to his request.

A true warrior on the pitch during his eight years with the Exiles, Cowan departs having clocked up 153 appearances, scoring 26 tries.

Director of Rugby, Declan Kidney, said: “Blair has made an invaluable contribution to London Irish during his time with the club.

“We’re disappointed he is moving on, but we felt it was only right that we allowed him to pursue this opportunity at this stage of his career.

“We wish Blair and his family well – there will always be a seat for them at Brentford in the future.”

Blair Cowan said: “This is the hardest decision of my career to date. It’s very rare for opportunities like this to come to someone at this stage in their career. When my wife and I had to write a leave and stay list, the list to stay at this Club was too long for the paper.

“There was one point on the leave column, and that was family. At the end of the day, family trumps all.

“I always envisaged hanging my boots up at the end of a London Irish match, preferably lifting the Premiership trophy, so to leave on this note is extremely hard, especially as I won’t get to share one last moment with the supporters and the people within the Club, that I regard as family.

“There are so many people to thank, and hopefully I get the opportunity to do so before I leave, but I just want to express my gratitude to Mick Crossan as he has given me this opportunity to be a part of this Club for so long. I would also like to thank all coaches, management, and background staff for continuing to have faith in me and putting up with me for so long. But most of all, I just want to thank all the boys through all the years for giving me amazing memories and sharing the trenches when our backs were against the wall and helping to fight our way to some amazing wins.

“From myself, my wife, and my son Eli, we would like to express our gratitude to everyone involved with the Club and the London Irish family for making this period of our lives so special. Our bond with this Club will never be broken. You never know, our paths might cross again in the future.

“With lots of love, the Cowans.”

The club will be making no further comment.

History will repeat itself 12 months on, as London Irish travel to Worcester Warriors on the opening day of the 2021/22 Gallagher Premiership season.

Declan Kidney’s side will make the journey to Sixways Stadium – the home of the Warriors – in Round 1 on Saturday, 18 September, in a carbon copy of the opening fixture from the 2020/21 season.

London Irish’s first home fixture of the new campaign will see last season’s losing playoff semi-finalists Sale Sharks travel to the Brentford Community Stadium.

The fixture will be played on Sunday, 26 September – with the BT Sport cameras in attendance for a 15:00 kick-off in the capital.

October starts with a trip to Northampton Saints, before back-to-back home matches versus Leicester Tigers and Gloucester Rugby. Last season’s top-two come next, with an away game at Exeter Chiefs – selected as another BT Sport live game – followed by a home clash against Bristol Bears. An away tie at Saracens completes the first block of fixtures.

Later in the campaign, the festive schedule starts with an away trip to Wasps, before Bath Rugby are the visitors to West London for what might be the first fixture of 2022.

Northampton Saints are the opponents for the annual St Patrick’s Party fixture in March, for what promises to be a stand-out clash in the calendar.

Owing to the 13-team set-up of the league this season, London Irish have two free weekends, one in Round 13 and another on the final weekend, Round 26, meaning our final regular season game is on the road at Bath Rugby in Round 25, on the weekend of 21 May.

Theo Brophy Clews, Harry Elrington, Nic Groom, Tom Homer, Charlton Kerr, Andrei Mahu, Motu Matu’u, Waisake Naholo and Vladimir Podrezov will all be packing their bags.

“On behalf of everyone at London Irish, I would like to thank the departing players for all their hard work and efforts for the club,” said Declan Kidney, Director of Rugby.

“I also want to thank their families, because without them, the players wouldn’t have been able to give their all for the club.

“Tom retires after making more than 100 appearances for the club, with Theo and Harry both reaching the 50-game milestone. All three of them have been fantastic servants for the club, on and off the field.

“Motu, Nic and Andrei have all worked tremendously hard to get London Irish get to where we are at present.

“Waisake, although not able to play as much as he wanted, has been a brilliant influence on our back three players and so is leaving with a long-term positive affect on the club.

“Charlton and Vladimir will not be as well known by our supporters, as unfortunately injuries and opportunities did not fall their way. But both are great people, and we thank them for their work rate and energy that they both brought to the squad.

“It’s been a pleasure to work with them all and they are always welcome back at Hazelwood.”

Tom Homer, who made 126 appearances and scored 785 points for the Exiles across two stints with the Club, has decided that it’s the right time for him to hang up his boots.

Homer had agreed a move to French side US Montalbanaise, but has since decided his future is away from the rugby field.

“I suppose my love for life is now beyond the rugby field,” explained Tom Homer.

“I’ve played rugby for 13 years now and have some brilliant memories, but it just feels like the right time to retire.

“There is something poetic about finishing at the club where it all started. I’m looking forward to the next adventure.”

Looking back at his career, Homer chose not to reflect a particular match, try or conversion, but more so on those fellow players he has shared the pitch with.

“My first year at London Irish and getting to play in the Premiership final was a massive highlight, but more than anything, I will remember the people that I got to share those types of experiences with,” he said.

“Thank you to all the people that have supported me during my career, you stuck with me through thick and thin. I really appreciate it.”

London Irish Director of Rugby Declan Kidney, when commenting on Homer’s decision, said: “We wish nothing but the best to Tom and his family in the future.

“He has had a fantastic career and should be very proud of everything that he has achieved. I know he will be successful in whatever path he chooses to do next, and I would like to thank him for his generosity, work ethic and friendship during his time at London Irish.”

London Irish fell to an agonising home 39-36 defeat to Wasps on Saturday as the visitors staged a fine second half comeback to clinch victory at the Brentford Community Stadium.

The Exiles led 33-10 at the break, thanks to five first half tries, but Wasps responded in style – securing the final points of an enthralling contest with the final play of the game – to leave the Exiles pondering what might have been for a second successive weekend.

On a glorious afternoon in the capital, London Irish came out of the traps in scintillating style.

After Paddy Jackson’s kick to the corner, the hosts went through the phases, and it was Curtis Rona – so often the man for the big occasion – who found some momentum to force his way over for a second minute try.

Paddy Jackson added a simple conversion, to hand the Exiles a dream start.

The dream start continued four minutes later – and what a score it was too!

Irish tossed it around like the Harlem Globetrotters, with the ball eventually finding its way out wide to Ollie Hassell-Collins, who dotted down in the corner to a wall of noise.

Despite the Exiles’ quick opening, it was the visitors who would score the next points of the contest on 18 minutes – Jacob Umaga kicking a routine penalty to make it 12-3.

Undeterred, the Exiles responded almost immediately with another fine try.

Nic Groom found Terrence Hepetema and his flicked offload was expertly delivered into the path of Rona, who found a gap in the Wasps defence to touch down for his second score!

Jackson – via the left-hand post – added the extras, to extend Irish’s lead to 19-3.

That lead was cut into 10 minutes before half-time though, when an interception in midfield gifted Josh Bassett a free run-in under the posts. Umaga added the conversion

To make matters worse for Irish, Hepetema picked up a yellow card for a high shot moments later, to leave Irish down to 14-men for the remainder of the half.

But Declan Kidney’s side showed brilliant character from their next attacking foray – making a mockery of their numerical disadvantage – with Albert Tuisue the man to cross over the line, crashing over from close range. Jackson nudged another conversion, to extend the hosts’ lead to 16 points.

Remarkably, despite being down to 14, Irish added another try on the stroke of half-time, Tuisue picking up from the base of the scrum and bulldozing over, for his second of the afternoon.

Jackson made no mistake with the boot, to hand Irish a 23-point lead at half-time.

Wasps made a flying start to the second half, however, Tom Willis dotting down out wide, with Irish still down to 14. The conversion was wide.

And there was another sting in the tail four minutes later, with Marcus Watson adding a third Wasps try, but again the conversion was missed.

Irish picked up another yellow card on 55 minutes, Adam Coleman penalised for not retreating from a quick tap-penalty.

The visitors took full advantage two minutes later, Willis driving over to reduce the buffer to just eight points – setting up a grandstand finale in the final 20 minutes.

Jackson’s penalty on 61 minutes stemmed the tide – to make it 36-25 – but a shot from further out two minutes later from the London Irish flyhalf struck the post.

And Wasps took full advantage, Bassett crossing under the posts for this second try, with Umaga adding the extra two.

The match was on a knife-edge with five minutes to go – with the Exiles leading 36-32 – but Irish hearts were broken, for the second weekend in a row, when Wasps scored a last-gasp try, courtesy of Willis, to clinch the narrowest of away victories.

“Both teams had a right good go at it and Gloucester just came away with the spoils.

“In sport, when you lose in the last play of the game, it’s always going to be really disappointing.

“There’s a numbness, an anger, the boys are upset – but if you weren’t feeling those emotions, you shouldn’t be in the dressing room.”

“We will have to point the fingers at ourselves this week, have a harsh review on Monday and prepare for next weekend.

“If we can do that, then there is lots to play for. It’s so congested in the table that one result can move you one or two places either way.

“There is a great determination within our group. We haven’t put ourselves under pressure by naming a position that we want to end up.

“We did better against Exeter than we did in the previous week against Newcastle. We know we are going to have to improve again to get the better of Gloucester come Friday night.”

“There are few aspects of the game that you can’t control, so you have to look within yourself and say ‘well, how did we do as a group? Were we as good as we could have been? Are we still making the same mistakes?’.

“In lots of ways, we have been learning week to week, and that’s where we have been growing as a side. I think we have been improving as the year has gone on, but the results haven’t always come our way with that.

“We want to make another step forwards, and these last three games give us the opportunity to do that.”

“This is a really important game – every game is so important for your league position in the Premiership,” said Agustin Creevy.

“After losing a few games, we are determined to start winning games again.

“We’ve trained well since Exeter – we need the result now. We need to play well, we need to be alive again, to give ourselves the best possibility to win the game.”

He added: “We have three big, important games coming up between now and the end of the season, we know that.

“We have our targets, we know what we want to achieve. It’s important for us to finish in the top-8 this season.”

Having played in front of just shy of 4 000 London Irish supporters last week, Creevy is again looking forward to fans returning this Friday evening at the Kingsholm Stadium, commenting: “Gloucester is a tough place to go without a crowd – it’ll be even tougher with a crowd, but as players, we’d much rather play in front of a crowd, even if it is restricted in numbers.

“The motivation to play in front of supporters after so long without them is big for both teams. It’s what you play professional rugby for, to play in front of crowds and make the people enjoy the game.

“I prefer playing in front of London Irish fanatics, of course, but playing in front of spectators from all teams again is going to be a really nice feeling for the remaining games this season,” Agustin Creevy concluded.

LONDON IRISH’S REMAINING MATCHES:

Friday, 28 May v Gloucester (A) – 19:45

Saturday, 5 June v Wasps (H) – 16:30

Saturday, 12 June v Bristol (A) – 15:00

It is with a heavy heart that I write to announce my retirement from professional rugby due to concussion. After receiving advice from the medical staff at London Irish and the Complex Concussion Clinic, it’s clear to me that I cannot continue to play, as I would be putting both my short-term and my long-term health at risk. I think that rugby is an incredibly special sport and it’s been a dream come true to play it professionally.

The memories I’ve made, the people I’ve met and the challenges I’ve had to go through have made my career incredibly fulfilling and special. Rugby has taught me so much, and, most importantly, how to be a decent person and to enjoy the ride, no matter how tough it gets.

There’s obviously a lot of emotion involved in a decision like this. First and foremost, I recognise that my health is the most important thing to consider, I have to accept that I can no longer put my body and my head through the physical challenges required to be a top-level player.

Secondly, I’m hugely grateful for the time I’ve had in the game, the people I’ve shared the pitch with, and being involved in the special community we have in English rugby – more on that later.

Lastly, I’m incredibly sad. While I appreciate that there is so much more to live for and more important issues in the world, I’m really going to miss it. The emotions you go through, the bonds and special memories you make with the people around you, let alone playing the game you love for a living, will all be incredibly tough to leave behind.

There are too many people to thank here, but know if you’ve ever messaged me, watched a game, or played with me, I’m thankful for you and your support. It hit me the other day that there are not many other jobs that you get to earn a living whilst having your family name on your back. I’ve loved representing my whole family every time I ran out onto the pitch. My Mum, Dad, big sister and my girlfriend Melanie have made me who I am and have supported me unwaveringly throughout my life and career. I love them more than anything.

To my teammates, coaches and support staff at school, club, county and England age-grade, thank you. Growing up playing rugby was incredibly fun and rewarding, and there’s so many people who shaped my career at a young age. There are so many people who have improved my life for the better at Newbury RFC, Berkshire, Abingdon School and the national age-grade programme. I will always look back at that time during my development as a rugby player with huge happiness and gratitude.

To everyone at London Irish, I’ve wanted to represent this club since I was a kid and playing over fifty first team games has been one of my proudest achievements. I’ve been part of some massive ups and downs for the club and many brilliant environments, so thank to all the boys, staff, coaches, and supporters for making my time here so special. A special thank you to the two people at the club who had the bravery to tell me what’s important in life, it can’t have been easy, but I really appreciate it.

Finally, to the London Irish supporters and rugby enthusiasts in general. Thank you for supporting us, especially when it hasn’t been easy. You’re the reason we get to play rugby for a living and thank you for allowing us to live our dreams.

If you’ve got this far, I appreciate it. I’m looking forward to the next chapter of my life knowing I’ve been lucky enough to live my dream.

See you soon,

Theo
