Have you ever wanted to play a casino video game without spending any money but still reaping in-game rewards? If yes, you should learn about no deposit bonus codes you can find for the best casino platforms.

However, it’s not the only way you can get some headway and there are options for other kinds of video games, too. This article will explore some interesting situations where you can play for free or get an initial advantage while focusing on this interesting “no deposit” feature.

What Is a No Deposit Bonus Code?

To start, let’s separate this phrase in two. “No deposit” means that you won’t need to pay anything. “Bonus code” means there’s a code, generally a string of characters or a word, that you must input somewhere. The result can lead to free spins for pokies or bonus cash. It depends on the creativity of the platform. Whatever the case, you’ll be getting something extra.

This generally works by getting this promotional offer somehow, for instance, by visiting a participating website with the codes or doing some action, such as posting about the operator’s live casino offerings on social networks. Then, you get a free offering that can vary. A warning, though, is that this scheme usually comes with requirements.

For example, you need to wager your money several times before withdrawing any winnings. Sometimes, there are deadlines, too and you must use the bonus before it expires.

In the world of video games, there are also promotions where you get a code for a discount when purchasing a game. It can also be a free period for massive multiplayer video games or getting extra in-game items. With that said, it’s an excellent way to “level up” you’re playing without much effort or a deposit.

Other Ways to Get an Edge in Online Casinos

If you can’t find a bonus code, don’t worry; there are other ways to get started the right way, that is, with some freebies. The good part is that many of the following work for live casinos, sports betting and various casino games.

Deposit Match Bonuses

In this case, you deposit an amount, and the platform matches it to a certain percentage. For instance, if the promotion claims a “100% match bonus,” your money will be doubled. So, if you deposit $100, you get $100 extra.

Free Spins

As the name implies, you get bonus spins for pokies for doing something, such as an initial deposit. It can also be a part of a No Deposit bonus scheme. Sometimes, the spins are available for any game, while in other situations, it’s just for a selected pool of games.

Cashbacks

Sometimes, casinos have schemes that reward you after playing. One of the most interesting ones is the “cashback” feature. It means the casino gives you back a specific percentage of the money lost in wagers. So, a 20% cashback implies that for each $100 you spend, the casino gives you $20 back.

Getting Video Games (And Stuff Inside) For Free

Naturally, promotions aren’t exclusive to casino games. You can also find exciting offerings for other video games. Sometimes, developers give away old games for free or create bundles with such games included.

If you become an early adopter, you can also level up. It means to pre-purchase games, and they can be single-player or online. You usually get exclusive in-game items as a reward if you do it. Another compensation can be free in-game currency, allowing you to purchase unique items or powers for a character.

What about a steady flow of free games? This is what Epic Games offers. This is one of the largest online game-selling platforms, providing free weekly games. Top games, such as Grand Theft Auto V, are sometimes provided. In contrast, other times, it’s all about top-rated indie offerings.

You can also participate as a beta tester to play games for free. Before a game is released, developers often allow players to play games as beta testers and report bugs and issues. This is great for developers and gamers since, by engaging in beta testing, both ensure the product is released with fewer issues.

Go Fishing

The dedicated player has plenty of opportunities to find a suitable promotion. Of course, you need to be on the lookout for the best offerings being provided and know where to find them. It takes some time and patience, but it’s also rewarding.

Getting some headway is exciting; it lets you try more game features and enjoy the overall experience. So, whenever you browse online websites, don’t forget to keep an eye out for those codes that can unlock a world of excitement!

Dive into the vast ocean of online gaming communities and forums, where passionate gamers frequently exchange exclusive codes, invaluable tips and ingenious strategies for unlocking hidden treasures and bonuses. Immersing yourself in these vibrant communities not only opens doors to exciting opportunities but also connects you with like-minded gamers who share your fervor for leveling up without spending a dime.

Thanks to advancements in technology. Read on to find out how to up your gaming skill whilst travelling!

The post Gaming On The Go – Up Skill While Travelling, Anytime, Anywhere appeared first on Australian Times News.

]]>
When it comes to gaming consistently to improve your skill, travelling can sometimes get in your way. It can be quite difficult to stay connected to the gaming world when you are constantly on the move; however, it is still possible to game whilst travelling. You won’t be able to use your PC when you’re away from home, but you will be able to use your mobile phone.

The technology powering mobile phones has advanced significantly in recent years, giving people a much better overall experience when it comes to mobile gaming. This means that you can go on long-distance trips and still access all of your gaming needs to keep your mind sharp. There are thousands of different types of games that you can play on your mobile, from puzzle games such as Cut the Rope to first-person shooters and even casino games found at online slots UK. The options are endless. Below we will go through how you can keep up your gaming skills while travelling.

Make time for gaming

When you are travelling, you might not have as much time to play games as you normally would in the comfort of your own home. However, if you want to play games while on the go, then you should make an effort to make time to game. It’s actually a lot easier than you might think to find a small amount of time in the day to devote to gaming.

There are many reasons why you might find yourself travelling a lot more than you anticipated. Whether you are on a business trip or going on holiday, you will find that you will have pockets of free time in a day that you can spend gaming on your mobile phone. Depending on how dedicated you are to making sure that you can game on the go, you may find that you have to stay awake a little later than usual to have time to game. Or, you can also get up earlier in the morning and have some undisturbed time to meet your gaming needs. These are small sacrifices to make to ensure that you continue with a hobby that you are passionate about.

Use travel time

Some of the best times to game while travelling around are when you find yourself on a long journey with a lot of free time to do whatever you like. Whether you are taking a bus ride somewhere or are on a flight to another country, you will have a great opportunity to play games to your heart’s content. Remember to have all of the games you want to play downloaded before you start your journey in case you don’t have a connection whilst travelling, which will be the case if you are on a plane journey. Gaming is a great way to pass the time on long journeys and will make them feel a lot shorter than they are as you focus on whatever you are playing.

Have a good internet connection

If you are someone that likes to play mobile games that require an adequate internet connection, then you should make an effort to ensure that your destination has a stable online connection. This means checking that the places you are staying at whilst away from home have Wi-Fi, as well as finding out if there’s an option for Wi-Fi whilst you are travelling. If you forget to do this, you may find yourself frustrated when you can’t connect to play your favourite game. If you are playing a game that requires a consistently strong connection and you don’t have one then you may run into problems. This is especially an issue for casino games such as slot machines and poker, where your decision may not be processed and you may miss out on a good opportunity to win.

It might also be worth enquiring about the internet speeds at the accommodation you have booked to stay at. It’s also a good idea to find out about roaming charges and how much mobile data you get with your phone contract, so you don’t run up a ridiculous bill whilst away.

Use it to relax

It doesn’t matter whether you are travelling for work or on a booked holiday with your friends or family; things can get stressful. When this happens, gaming is a great way to try and unwind after a rough day. After all, there’s no point in going on holiday if you are unable to relax fully. Using mobile gaming to relax after a stressful journey will help you feel a lot better and will enable you to enjoy your trip a lot more. Being able to take your mind off things that worry you is super important, and gaming is one of the best ways to do this.

Mobile games work offline

You may be thinking that mobile gaming is only possible when you have access to the internet; however, there are thousands of games you can play offline. The most important thing to remember is to download all of the games that you want to play before you travel.

Players can enjoy new games with online subscriptions and internet connectivity

Online gaming isn’t a new thing, but it is a rapidly growing one. In fact, the global market topped US$173 billion in 2020 and is expected to reach a whopping US$314.40 billion by 2026. What is evolving, however, is the method of delivery with cloud-based gaming services. This is why Wetten.com Australia is smoothly bringing in reviews and information on players’ performance to make it more convenient for users as they get familiar with these new tech trends.

Cloud gaming has become an unavoidable part of the eSports industry as well. Players can enjoy new games just with online subscriptions and internet connectivity. New games are added at regular intervals.

Microsoft says that cloud gaming is an emerging and immature technology that the CMA recognizes while facing significant challenges. They think the technology is unlikely to be accepted by consumers because it will require a significant shift in consumer behavior. Instead, they expect PC and console players to continue to compute most of the games they play.

Whether you’re unfamiliar with cloud gaming or already experienced, these questions are important. It’s time to level up, start your game plan, and move to the cloud. Cloud gaming has been all over for a while but was only recently introduced in Australia. And the considerable thing about it is that whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or expert, you’re free to enjoy sleek access to all the high-quality games you love or just wish to explore. This makes it far more affordable than traditional console games if you want to say Sea of Johns but don’t want to commit too much.

NVIDIA, the global graphics card giant, is creating its own wave of disruption, shifting the high-end graphics and processing speed needed from expensive hardware to a subscription model for cloud gaming.

How Australia Treats Cloud Gaming

Cloud gaming is growing in popularity as high-bandwidth services are becoming more accessible and affordable to consumers. The expansion of his 5G network, which is underway in the near term, will further accelerate this. Australia provides the local and specialized infrastructure necessary to support these cloud-based gaming podiums and stay ahead of the game in a growing global market expected to exceed $8.8 billion by 2027. A race is underway to the future progression.

The operators are leading the way in enabling gamers across Australia to sense the future of gaming from the cloud. Through an exclusive partnership with NVIDIA, Pentanet is unleashing the full power of its GeForce NOW technology in Australia to lead the gaming revolution. Pentanet enhances the player experience and levels the playing field in terms of player latency by leveraging premium data center services in close proximity to a cloud platform central to this style of play and high-performance connectivity solutions.

Subscription-Based Cloud Gaming

Gamers of all strata explained how much they love trying out new games on compatible smartphones (and other devices) without buying a console. You can play tons of new games for literally a small monthly fee. If you don’t like them, then there are many more options. weather? It’s cloudy, and there’s a good chance of a match.

One great thing about cloud gaming is you don’t have to download anything or install the game on a compatible device. You don’t even need to upgrade any component or hardware. All it takes is a subscription for Xbox or other consoles, a device, a decent internet connection, and an accurate bandwidth.

Live Cloud Gaming in Australia

Internal testing is now complete, and Beta Play is targeting a September release ahead of a nationwide release in October 2021. The operators will provide Australian gamers with premium cloud gaming services available on virtually any device. It is anticipated that they will democratize gaming access in Australia by instantly transforming virtually any laptop, desktop, Mac, SHIELD TV, Android device, smartphone or tablet into the processing power of a high-end gaming PC.

This will enable Australian users to seamlessly and instantly hit the most ambitious games across a dimension of devices. Until now, only expensive high-end standalone gaming PCs could provide the fully immersive experience that new-generation video games are capable of. Stable, high-bandwidth interconnectivity and a strong, secure, high-density infrastructure are the keys to successfully building a cloud gaming hub that delivers a democratized user experience without inactivity and jitter issues.

Bottom Line

Cloud Gaming works via server drops in locations around the world, allowing local markets to stream their catalog of games. This also means less pressure to maintain reliable data storage.

Australia has a lot of talented developers. Take a moment this Australia Day to familiarize yourself with their amazing creations. Australians, like the rest of the creation, are hooked on Wordle, according to mobile app market research firm Sensor Tower.

Role-playing games remain the largest genre, offering great potential for marketers to play branded experiences alongside engaging audiences in an increasingly competitive screen media landscape. There are multiple casino games popular in Australia. The casino market has recently trapped Australians, giving them more zeal and excitement. Here’s the link to explore more such opportunities. Apart from these, there are several downloadable games in the gaming market. The best ones are listed below.

Crossy Road

Crossy Road takes Frogger’s basic premise and throws endless into the mix. Adorable voxel art and lots of unlockable road (and river and crossing) animals. And if you don’t act fast enough, a giant bird of prey will eat you. It’s cluttered enough to give the gameplay a natural, competitive new feel, and one that keeps you coming back for more. The game is available on both Android and iOS.

Framed

Loveshack Framed is a classic of visual storytelling, using that storytelling as the base for its own gameplay. Each page of the story is laid out like a cartoon, a “quiet” story about two main characters avoiding lawyers and betraying each other, but the board is not right. You’ll have to scour the context and put the panels in the right order to see your heroes win the day, thwart the fuzz, and get away clean, but it’s tougher than it sounds. The game is available on iOS.

Bonza Word Puzzle

Bonza may look like a crossword, but don’t be conned – it’s actually a little more amusing than that. That seems to be the foundation from which Bonza begins. Each puzzle is based on a concept, and the words within the puzzle relate to that concept. This could be zoo animals, adventure, or something more specific. The “crossword” is falling apart in pieces. The goal is to find words based on key concepts and put them back together. It’s really refreshing and fun – a twist on wordplay.

Epoch and Epoch 2

Uppercut Games revolutionized the touchscreen cover shooter for Epoch. The game itself is more or less on track, using a series of punches to dodge enemy fire amid hiding behind cover, bustling up and tapping enemies to target them, and returning fire once the shore is clear. increase. It’s a very polished system that offers just enough of a threat to keep things attractive while fitting perfectly with the platform – and, let’s be honest, wrapped up in some pretty brilliant graphics. Both the gaming versions are available in iOS and Android

Duet

The duet seems to be based on death in multiple ways. Of course, there is a bit of death in video games. You will crash and burn and acquire to start the level all over. Duet has a lot of it. But the game crawls when you look for thematic clues.

From the very basic snippets of dialogue to the weird and empty atmosphere to the further levels.

It also requires you to think outside the box, putting your spatial awareness into overdrive when navigating the levels and hitting obstacles with pairs of red and blue dots that meet only on one wheel spinning at the bottom of the screen. You have to avoid bumping into them. That’s why, despite the difficulties, it’s filled with extremely satisfying “Eureka” moments.

The Voxel Agents

There’s a reason The Voxel Agents is presented as a developer instead of one of the games. It is because one couldn’t decide which of the games is better – Puzzle Retreat for iOS and Android. Squares on the grid by sliding ice around them. Or, in train conductor games, you have to assign tracks when trains hit the screen to prevent them from crashing into each other. And the studio just keeps getting better. Train Conductor 3 adds curved tracks and other new features. Also fascinating is the upcoming mysterious Time Project.

Fruit Ninja

One of Australia’s most famous mobile game studios is Halfbrick, made famous by Fruit Ninja. This game hardly needs explaining. Your fingers are swords; use them to cut as many fruits as possible while dodging bombs. It’s a elementary concept, but one that works perfectly in a loose context while the collectible swords and backdrop keep it interesting. The game is available on both Android and iOS.

Playing online games with your friends is a great way to have fun and bond with each other. But it can be frustrating when you are not quite as good as the others. However, there is no need to be worried, as there are plenty of ways you can get better at online gaming.

As with almost everything in life, gaming is something that can be improved upon with time and practice. Indeed, some of the best gamers will have all been a lot worse than they are at the moment, and one of the only reasons why they are so good is because they continue to develop their skills and play as often as they can.

Here are some tried and true strategies to help you get the most out of your gaming experience.

Know the Game Inside and Out

The best way to improve your gaming skills is to know the game inside and out. Spend time studying the rules and mechanics of the game before you get started. Read up on strategy guides, watch tutorial videos, and ask veteran players for advice. Even the best players will look to ask for help whenever they need it, so there is no need to feel bad or embarrassed about asking for it. For instance, even the most experienced bettors who play in the best Australian online casinos, look for more gambling tips in order to help them improve their game. Once you have a good understanding of all the ins and outs of the game, it will be much easier for you to make smart decisions while playing.

Practice, Practice, Practice!

Many people fall into the trap of thinking that they can just jump in and be competitive without any practice. The truth is that it takes time and dedication to become skilled at any online game. Take some time each day (or even better – each week!) to practice your skills in-game. Set specific goals for yourself so you can track your progress over time. This will help motivate you to keep improving until you reach your desired level of performance.

Explore Different Strategies

No two games are ever exactly alike, so it is important to remember that there is not one right way to play any given title. Experiment with different strategies to see what works best for you in different situations. Do not be afraid to try something new or take risks when playing; part of becoming truly great at any game is learning how to think outside of the box when it comes to strategy and tactics.

Conclusion

Being great at any online game takes hard work, dedication, and lots of practice! Make sure that you understand all aspects of the game before getting started; read up on strategy guides, watch tutorial videos, and ask experienced players for advice if needed. Once armed with knowledge about the game mechanics, set aside time each week specifically dedicated to practicing in-game until you reach your desired level of performance. Finally, do not forget that no two games are ever exactly alike, so make sure that you explore different strategies as well as take risks when necessary! With these tips in mind, there is no reason why you will not soon be dominating opponents with ease!

Poker can be played in casinos, online or even in private rounds.

Each card has a color or a number, and the next card to be discarded must have either the same color or the same number. There are also special cards that trigger special actions, such as requiring the next player to discard a card or change suits. Uno is a fun game to play over and over again, as it is different every time.

Board games

Monopoly

Monopoly is a board game where you buy and sell real estate, trying to make as much money as possible. The board is divided into squares that represent either land, community squares, or event squares. When you land on a property square, you have the option to buy it. If you already have a monopoly on all the plots in a color group, you can build houses or hotels on the plots to charge rent to the other players. Monopoly is an entertaining and exciting game in which the luck factor also plays a role. It is especially suitable for a cozy game evening with friends or family.

Scrabble

Scrabble is a board game in which players use letter tiles to form words on the board. The goal of the game is to score as many points as possible by placing words that are multiplied on special squares on the board or forming longer or rarer words. Scrabble is a game that requires both knowledge and strategy, which is why many people like to play it. It is suitable for both adults and children and is a great way to improve vocabulary and linguistic understanding. Scrabble can also be played online, either alone against the computer or against other people on the Internet.

Cluedo

Cluedo is an exciting detective game where you have to figure out who committed a murder. The game is played with a game board, cards and game pieces. Players choose a game piece and move around the victim’s house to collect clues. There are six suspects who could be possible perpetrators and nine rooms in the house where the murder could have taken place. Players must collect their suspect cards and figure out which weapon, person and room played a role in the murder. The first player to correctly identify all three cards wins the game. Cluedo is an ideal game for those who like to puzzle and prove their detective skills.

Board games offer endless possibilities for entertainment and fun. Whether you play alone or with friends, there is always a suitable game. So, what are you waiting for? Pick up a board game and let’s go!

The post How has the Global iGaming Sector Fared in 2022? appeared first on Australian Times News.

]]>
It is actually expected to hit a record-breaking growth of around $81.08 billion by the end of 2022, and we expect it to grow even further in the future. So, it is safe to say that the iGaming industry has fared very well in 2022, with the potential to expand even more in the future. Here we will take a look at the main factors that boosted the success of the iGaming sector.

The Success of New Casino Games

Online casino games have achieved better success because technology has also improved. There are 3D graphics, cutting-edge visuals, new innovative features, and better casino games that further attract a new audience of online casino players.

Live casino games are quite popular in online casinos, and they have only gotten better in the last couple of years. Also, there are new developers in the market besides Evolution Gaming, where you can try your luck with many new innovative live dealer games.

For example, today, you can try your luck with live casino games that were strictly associated with table and card games, but nowadays, you can actually try your luck with game shows and live-action slot games streamed in real-time to your device.

Cryptocurrencies

Due to the great popularity of cryptocurrencies, many businesses decided to accept crypto payments, as well as online casinos. Casino sites also support this trend and accept crypto payments. This is one of the latest changes in the iGaming market, which has happened in the last couple of years after Bitcoin’s bull cycle; not only casino sites but also other iGaming platforms, such as betting sites and lotto sites, started to accept crypto transactions.

The gambling platforms support major crypto payments for multiple reasons. First, cryptocurrencies are based on blockchain, decentralist technology, and the transaction fees for cross-border payments are quite low because there isn’t a centralized financial authority that approves the transactions. They also offer enhanced security and protect the identity of the crypto owners.

Accessible Mobile Devices

Another factor that continues to impact the rise of only casinos is the accessibility of mobile devices. This is a major factor in the success of the entire gaming sector because there are approximately 8 billion smartphones on a global scale and that number cannot be compared with any other device, including personal computers.

It became more accessible therefore to access any online gambling site through your smartphone’s browser, for this reason, iGaming platforms are constantly increasing the number of games or gambling options which are accessible on mobile casino sites.

In conclusion, one of the main reasons for the constant growth of the iGaming sector where the implementation of different technological innovations, which created more opportunities for different audiences of online casino online users to try their luck with their favourite games of chance. This would not have been possible without the technological advancements and the willingness of the iGaming sector to continue to improve its offerings online.

The post Why popularity of Video Gaming is raising in Australia appeared first on Australian Times News.

]]>
Australians have been widely known as the nation of avid gamers. The Bond University’s regular Digital Australia report has uncovered that 17 million Australians play video games in some form. To compare, that’s over 66% of the entire country’s population and indicates that two out of three Australians are fond of gaming!

The recent report created by IGEA has shown that an impressive 91% of all Australian households own some sort of video gaming device. What is more: Australians spend more money every year on purchasing video games and consoles, mobile games, and even physical games from storefronts.

Before getting to the reasons for the popularity of video gaming in Australia, let’s first learn more about the most popular gameplay options for Aussies. Commonly, these include the world’s trending games like Cyberpunk 2077, Baldur’s Gate III, Minecraft. Among the popular locally-made video games are Florence, Fruit Ninja, L.A. Noire and The Hobbit. The most passionate players also often choose casino games UK as they seek interactive gaming experience.

These options are widely popular because of their interactivity and accessibility, so you’d hardly find a single person in Australia who hasn’t given it a try so far!

Major Factors of Video Gaming Popularity Among Australians

According to a comprehensive survey by Statista, there are 15 different reasons why Australians are playing on a common basis. Below we’ll review the most interesting and popular factors that make video gaming popular across different age groups.

 • To Have Fun. The first and most typical reason that doesn’t require too much explanation – video games are a perfect option to have some fun regardless of age, current location, time, or personal preferences. No matter what interests or game categories you like, you’ll surely find the most interactive and appealing game for yourself.
 • To Keep Mind Active. The second popular opinion that is exceptionally shared by the Australian respondents of the age group 65+ is that video gaming helps to train the brain, increase attentiveness and boost creativity. Knowing that people of all ages try to find the best gaming options that fit best their interests and needs.
 • To Relax & Reduce Stress. Being engaging and enjoyable, video games can significantly decrease the stress level. Mainly, that’s achieved with the dopamine secretion a person gets while achieving a goal, completing a challenge, or gaining the reward for a certain activity in video games.
 • To Escape Boredom & Have Fun. Similar to the previous characteristics described, video gaming allows people to entertain themselves easily and get some relief from their hectic schedules.
 • To Be Challenged. Challenges, even those introduced in a digital world, always bring pleasure and satisfaction. Australians claim those as an excellent chance to stretch the boundaries and feel the worth of your efforts and input.
 • To Feel Accomplishment & Excitement. Regardless of age and personality, every person is continually in search of new, positive emotions to bring into their lives. The accomplishment of different goals helps you to add confidence and get yourself motivated and encouraged to move on. Video games, as we know, feature a wide range of different competitions where you can try your own hand and inspire yourself to move forward.
 • To Improve Mental Health. The post-covid reality has driven more and more people to experience mental issues due to the severe restrictions. People were made to reconsider their daily routines and nearly every person across the globe has experienced huge pressure, increased anxiety, and loneliness.

These and many other factors have significantly affected well-being, so many Aussies consider video gaming as an excellent way to improve mental health.

The release of ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ has reportedly been delayed and the game rumoured to be “in trouble.”

The ‘Harry Potter’-themed game based on JK Rowling’s Wizarding World franchise – which will see the player take up a place at the famous magical school in the late 1800s – was due for release this year but a new report claims it has been pushed back.

Speaking on his ‘Sacred Symbols+’ podcast, gaming journalist Colin Moriarty said: “I’m hearing behind the scenes that game is not coming out this year, and that it’s in some sort of trouble.”

The game – which is currently being developed by Avalanche Software, which was acquired by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment – was first announced in 2020 and slated for release in 2021, but just months later it was announced on the game’s official Twitter account that the game needed more time.

The tweet read: “We would like to thank fans from around the world on the tremendous reaction to the announcement of Hogwarts Legacy from our Portkey Games label. Creating the best possible experience for all of the Wizarding World and gaming fans is paramount to us, so we are giving the game the time it needs.”

However, video game insider AccountNGT was quick to rebuke the claims made by Moriarty that the game was in “trouble”, stating that the “only thing” that could push back the release of ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ is the amount of other titles due for release around the same time.

The insider wrote on Twitter: “The only thing that could delay Hogwarts Legacy to 2023 is the amount of games that will be released in the same period.”

5 Iconic Games Invented by Australians https://www.australiantimes.co.uk/lifestyle/gaming/5-iconic-games-invented-by-australians/ Thu, 23 Dec 2021 10:20:17 +0000 https://www.australiantimes.co.uk/?p=2453567 When it comes to innovations in gaming, the Land Down Under doesn't get much airtime. Much of the limelight is hogged by the heavy hitters in Silicon Valley or Tokyo, or some of the boutique developers in the Nordics that release a mega-hit every few years.

However, the Australian gaming industry is robust and growing, with a surprising number of hits under its belt, among which some of the most well-known and widely played games in history are included. Read on to find out some of the most iconic games that were invented by Aussies.

Bioshock

Stepping into the Art Deco, libertarian, and Darwinian underwater hellscape of Rapture for the first time is a gaming experience unlike any other. This is an iconic game series with politics, power, and absolutely terrifying deep-sea robots at its heart. The Bioshock series continues to be one of the most critically acclaimed to ever be released, and it was produced almost entirely by Canberra-based 2K Games.

Fruit Ninja

Probably the most famous mobile game ever released that prompted scores of us to go out and invest in our first touchscreen phones back in the day. Fruit Ninja, in which you simply slice and dice pieces of flying fruit with your katana, distils the essence of the simple yet endlessly entertaining game. In fact, it was so popular that it even inspired many similar games, including in the online casino world. Fans of Fruit Ninja who enjoyed the original can enjoy similar aesthetics and gameplay, all for real cash prizes with the Juicy Ninja slot, available at this popular online bingo platform. This seems to be a theme, as there are even takes on classic games like Space Invaders for retro gamers.

The Hobbit

The Hobbit is one of the world’s most beloved tales, one that follows the plucky hairy-footed adventurer Bilbo Baggins as he embarks on his epic quest to the Lonely Mountain. While there have been many attempts to recreate the story in the medium of video games, none were more successful than the 1982 text-based adventure game of the same name, produced by the now-defunct Melbourne-based studio Beam. The game, which was later re-released for Commodore 64, was estimated to have sold a whopping 200,000 copies by 1985.

LA Noire

One of Rockstar’s most unusual releases, because it takes place in a sprawling open-world recreation of 1940s Los Angeles in which it is impossible for your character to commit a crime, LA Noire was one of the top critical darlings of the last decade. This gripping detective game, in which you must solve a series of increasingly grisly murders in the heart of Tinseltown, was co-produced by Bondi Games at their sleek studios in Sydney.

The Legend of Spiro

There are many Spiro games that have entered the canon as all-time classics of gaming history, but it is the 2006-2008 Legend of Spiro Trilogy, released for PS2, DS, and GameCube, that most of us remember. This is our favourite purple dragon at his absolute best, flying, shooting, and burning his way through a dazzling mythical world. It was also produced by Brisbane-based Krome Studios, one of the top game developers in Australia today.

These are our favourite games created by Australian developers. Did yours make the cut?

With the registration of the new domain frontiers.sonicthehedgehog.com, speculation has mounted that a game called Sonic Frontiers could be on the way.

The website is currently inactive but with the seventh annual Game Awards looming – set to take place on Thursday 08.12.2021 with a stream broadcast the following day – fans are expecting an official announcement to come at the annual ceremony, which has often been used as an event for game reveals.

When it comes to the unveiling of new games, award show host and video game journalist Geoff Keighley, 42, previously teased that amount of announcements is “in the double digits, with around “40 to 50 games this year someway or another.”

In a blog post for EpicGames, he said: “I think this year is a unique year and because a lot of things have been delayed and pushed. So you have a lot of big games, but it’s kind of anyone’s game this year, which as a show producer, you sometimes yearn for those years where it’s a rivalry between like a ‘God of War’ and ‘Red Dead Redemption’. There’s great tension this year. I’d say the awards are about half the show and the other half is the announcements and premieres.”

Speculation of the new ‘Sonic’ game – which if true, will become the 94th title to be released under the flagship Sega franchise since the inaugural MegaDrive game was released in 1991.

Amongst a slew of other awards, the games nominated for the prestigious Game of the Year Award include ‘Deathloop’,’It Takes Two’, ‘Metroid Dread’, ‘Psychonauts 2’ , ‘Ratchet & Clank’ and ‘Resident Evil Village’

Nintendo are said to be taking emulation criticism very seriously after facing backlash over their new Switch platform.

The gaming giant has come under fire in recent months over their Switch N64 emulation system, which released a new tier of Switch Online membership that allows gamers to play classic Nintendo 64 titles, but the company have faced backlash over issues such as game quality and high prices.

Nintendo President Doug Bowser told The Verge: “We’re constantly looking for ways to make our online features and those games better and continuing to add value through more services and more games as we go forward. We take the feedback very seriously, and we’re continuing to look at ways to improve the overall performance. For us, it’s about quality and great content at a great value.”

In the same interview, Bowser also addressed the semiconductor shortage and how it is affecting Nintendo’s new OLED Switch production.

He said: “These challenges have been facing many industries, and they’ve been going on for quite some time. But we’re working to meet demand for our holiday products, including the Nintendo Switch OLED model. I will say things are constantly changing, but we’ve been working across the supply chain — from production to overseas transport to local distribution channels — to make sure we have a steady flow of hardware and games through the holiday cycle. Now, despite all of our efforts, I’d say there’s still a high level of uncertainty. I’d certainly recommend if you see it, buy it this holiday season.”
